Alectryon excelsus, commonly known as the New Zealand oak or titoki tree, is a species of tree that is native to New Zealand. It has a conical shape when young, but becomes more spreading with age. Alectryon excelsus produces small, greenish-white flowers that bloom in the spring, and has glossy, dark green leaves that are about 4 inches long. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, and is often used in landscaping as a specimen tree or in a mixed border. Alectryon excelsus is also used in traditional Maori medicine for a variety of purposes, including treating diarrhea and skin conditions.
